IC[]

One of the three species of Elves, Solar Elves are the most commonly encountered in day to day life.

They control a small island country which they call home, but spend the larger part of their life wandering the planet and exploring other cultures. As a people, they are highly fluid and variable; most Solar Elves blend into their current surroundings with little effort. The only consistent traits are a heavy emphasis on discipline and a disdain for hoarding material wealth.

OOC[]

Solar Elves are the closest thing to 'High Elves' you'll get in Eisenkern. With their long lifespan, they can master many skills and are often the most powerful being in the town they choose to settle down in... however, they lack the pride typically seen in the Elves of other fantasy settings. Indeed, they have very little to call their own.

Solar Elves alternate between three modes throughout their life. First, they spend roughly 20 years in the homeland, helping keep the country running and the species propagating. Second, they wander the planet until they find a new place they enjoy. Third, they stay at the new place and call it home for roughly 100 years.

Due to this, Solar Elves are very adept at picking up the culture and beliefs of their chosen home and mirroring them to some extent. A Solar Elf who settles with a nomadic barbarian tribe will quickly come to appreciate their lifestyle and join them in their hunts and rituals. While they remain there, the elf does his best to aid his new home in any way he can.

However, when he returns to the homeland, the elf can only take as much as he can carry on his own back. Solar Elves do not see value in material goods, preferring to keep only as much as they need for the next few weeks. From a design viewpoint, this is to avoid Dragon Hoard Syndrome (Solar Elves live a long time, so if they collected things they'd end up with massive piles of valuable objects that should be circulating! Imagine the impact it would have on the economy!)
